The Mets didn't lose, Trout and Ohtani didn't disappoint, Aaron Boone tempts fate, the Orioles are playing meaningful September games, and I talk about Democracy, cats, England, Dylan, and Florida
Good morning!
There’s good news for Mets fans today as they did NOT lose yesterday! It was a rainout, but hey, that’s NOT a loss, and they maintain their one-game lead over Atlanta in the East! Take the victories where you can, guys, because there sure as hell haven’t been a ton of them on the field lately.
Elsewhere, the Trout-Ohtani Show didn’t disappoint, the Orioles are playing meaningful games in September — not successful games, but meaningful ones — Starling Marte and Zac Gallen is doing interesting things, though they’re very different interesting things, Aaron Boone is tempting fate, Austin Meadows is trying to get right, and there was a mistrial in a case featuring a once-famous reliever.
In Other Stuff I, once again, talk about the end of American democracy, British politics, British sports, and Bob Dylan, and I learn something I never knew about Florida. Unlike other things I learn about Florida these days, however, it’s not horrifying. It’s just weird.
Let’s get at ‘er.
