Cup of Coffee: September 13, 2022
A fun, chippy, shitshow of a night around baseball, a couple of Orwellian items, imagining Joe Biden on a bus, and a new "Fletch" movie is coming out which, since I'm a dad, I'm excited about.
Good morning!
Baseball was kind of a glorious mess last night. It may be mid-September and things may really be coming down to the wire, but the vibe across the league last night was “a late April evening when everyone was moderately cranky.” Lucky for us I love that vibe. There wasn’t much else baseball news besides what went on in the games, though, so even if you’re the sort who tends to skip the recaps, you should probably read the recaps today lest you feel shortchanged.
In Other Stuff The Athletic has started to run ads, complete with Orwellian euphemism, the UK cracks down on people offering opinions about the monarchy, which has its own Orwellian vibe, there’s a new movie coming out I’m kinda excited about, and we imagine Joe Biden on a bus. It’s not that hard to imagine, actually, despite what some people are saying.
