Random baseball-adjacent things with hacky jokes attached, a Substack/Nazis development, Martin Scorsese, men being weird, OpenAI, and Star Wars at the Golden Globes
Good morning!
There was not a ton of baseball news yesterday but we’ll have enough fun with what there was. Which is to say that there are like four things that were at least baseball-adjacent about which I make hacky jokes and, really, isn’t that this newsletter’s value proposition?
In Other Stuff there was a development of sorts with respect to Substack and Nazis but I’m skeptical and I’m not sure it moves the needle on my decision to move the newsletter off the platform. I share it anyway because your opinions are what matter to me most and you all often think of things I don’t when it comes to this stuff, so your thoughts are welcome.
In less heavy news, there’s something about Martin Scorsese. I share an item about men being decidedly weird. I write a whole lot of words about the OpenAI/New York Times/authors litigation, fair use, and how even people I usually tend to agree with get things wrong with this stuff. And, finally, I pick some low-hanging Star Wars fruit, because I’m not any better when it comes to that than I am about hacky jokes. So, as always, I’m keepin’ it real.
