Good morning! And welcome to 2024!
Yeah, 2024 began yesterday. And no, I didn’t even send out a comment thread or anything. Sorry. I was up past my bedtime Sunday night and slept too late yesterday morning to make it happen. We could all use a day offline, though, yeah?
But now we’re back to it. And today we’re talking about Omar Vizquel’s sad attempt at P.R. management and USA Today’s pathetic aiding and abetting of that effort. We also talk about a couple of Red Sox moves, the Reds signing a starter, and how things can go from Cup of Coffee’s pages to God’s ear. Or at least to federal court. And Cup of Coffee had nothing to do with it but let’s take credit anyway.
In Other Stuff we talk about Mickey Mouse in the public domain, an Edward Hopper documentary, the efficacy of cold medicine and why there are still so many useless decongestants out there, and why I will no longer be self-conscious about how damn often I use the word “however.” And folks, I use it a lot.
