Ok Craig, you hooked me. I always read your columns and followed you on social media but when you started the blog, I was disillusioned with baseball in general. The greed on the part of the players and owners during a pandemic turned my stomach and I didn't watch baseball last year. I'm a lifelong Red Sox fan, I was weaned on baseball. My dad played semi pro ball in the late 1950's and I was born between 2 jock brothers and I was the scorer for the local Babe Ruth league as a kid. Love baseball. First date with my current husband was in 2006 and we sat in the Fever Pitch seats at Fenway.

But I didn't subscribe until this morning. That little bit on the slimy Ted Cruz did it. What a poor specimen of human being. Just being Rush. Thank you Craig.

Even though the Mets signed Kevin Pillar a couple days ago, since they are still covered in today's newsletter I thought I'd share a quick Pillar story I forgot to mention before.

Several years ago I was a sports reporter for a small town newspaper, and our sports editor would always have stories about his brother in Texas who worked for the FBI. One of those stories was about how his brother was in a poker group with Pillar, and each time their group got together, Pillar would tell them of some strange word Steve Young was going to say on the next Monday Night Football broadcast.

Apparently Pillar and Young were friends, and they had a thing where Pillar would text him some random, bizarre word ahead of each Monday Night Football game and Young would then have to find a way to work the word into the broadcast at some point.
