Strong pitching, a major injury, some spiffy throwbacks, a condiment transaction, Ohio's torching of democracy, Pac-Man fever, movie sex, the death of an icon and . . . just one more thing
Good morning!

You know me, though: optimism and sunshine and thinking the best in every situation. There was, however, a significant injury to an important player on a contending club and there’s no way to sugarcoat that. Also: I get that you’re frustrated, Padres fans, but throwing trash on the field is no way to go through life.
Elsewhere, a much-loved broadcaster is gonna hang ‘em up at the end of the season, a loved but mostly unproductive outfielder is going to try to find a new home even though he’s still under contract, the Field of Dreams Game teams will look pretty good on Thursday night, and there were two minor transactions yesterday, one involving an outfielder and the other involving a condiment.
In Other Stuff, I have been saying it for a few years now but now people who haven’t been paying attention are learning that Ohio has become the “Hindenburg of democracy.” Also, cocaine is back in Hollywood, apparently, I probably shouldn’t talk about sex but I do anyway, Olivia Newton-John has ascended to the heavens in the “Greased Lightnin’” car for real this time, and there is . . . just one more thing.
