Cup of Coffee: August 5, 2022
The Angels hit a new low, baseball heads back to London, Whit Merrifield has completed his research, a ballwriter makes an ass of himself, and I will walk 500 miles. Well, give or take.
Today we have another chapter in the Tungsten Arm O’Doyle Chronicles, the Brewers’ new-look bullpen continues to look like trash, the Giants also look like trash and are being pissy about it too, Justin Verlander continues to dominate, some deadline acquisitions continue to get big hits with their new clubs, we witness a rare complete game loss, and I giggle to myself over something Kevin Cash said, though none of you will really understand what I’m giggling about.
Elsewhere, Major League Baseball is heading back to London next year, a couple of well known veterans have lost their jobs, Whit Merrifield has, apparently, completed his research, a grizzled New York ballwriter makes an ass of himself in the Derek Jeter documentary, Camden Yards is 30 years-old so it’s a good time to examine its impact, both good and bad, and someone got their photo taken with Pirates owner Bob Nutting and it’s pretty damn priceless.
In Other Stuff: when I haver, hey you know I'm gonna be, I'm gonna be the man who's havering to you, and I haver on today about walking 500 miles. More or less.
Let’s get to it . . .
