Cup of Coffee: August 2, 2022
Today is trade deadline day, but there was plenty of action yesterday, my friends
It’s trade deadline day — the deadline hits at 6PM Eastern tonight — but no one was really waiting for today, it seems. The Yankees, Astros, Atlanta, Brewers, Padres and Red Sox were all quite busy yesterday and, of course, I talk about all of the major deals below. Atlanta and the Padres likewise each announced significant contract extensions to significant players, and I talk about those too.
In Other Stuff I have an item on Deshaun Watson which, if you’re not already sour on the NFL — and why aren’t you? — you may very well be after this. I also talk about an article that represents an act of violence against me and my people and I talk about an airport that is talking about automats without using the world “automat.” I see them, though. I know what they’re doing. You can’t get that cheese past me, Raleigh-Durham.
