Cup of Coffee: August 16, 2022
The Yakety Sax Angels, the non-choosy Javier Báez, the punchless Yankees, more Tatís excuses, the Rangers fire their manager, dystopia, nuclear war, High Life ice cream and Sacheen Littlefeather
Good morning!
The Angels hit a new low last night, which is saying something given how many lows they’ve experienced this year, the Yankees did something they haven’t done since 2016 but, nope, it’s not a good thing, Javier Báez did something he, actually, has done before but it’s not like he should be doing it at all, and Madison Bumgarner was given a warm rhetorical welcome on his return to San Francisco but he was not given a warm baseball welcome.
Elsewhere: the Rangers fired their manager. The Dodgers got bad news about a starting pitcher. The postseason schedule is out and, while it assumes that it never rains in October and that travel is no big deal, I suppose it’s fine. Also, Fernando Tatís has another excuse for his PED test, Bryce Harper could be back soon, and the Field of Dreams is more like a Field of Pork.
In Other Stuff we have the usual sort of business: dystopia, nuclear war, beer-flavored ice cream and Sacheen Littlefeather. You know, typical Tuesday content, so let’s get at ‘er.
